first 6 months is rapid development

Babies are naturally curious and eager to learn new things. During their first 6 months, they grow and develop faster than at any other time in life. Mildstones baby gym was created to support your little one through this important stage

Eyesight is the least developed sense in newborns. They see most clearly at a distance of about 20–30 cm (8–12 inches), and can basically detect light, dark, and high-contrast patterns. Over the first few months, their vision gradually develops, allowing them to begin distinguishing shapes and new colours

As their eyesight develops, babies slowly start to integrate senses. They touch a fabric and see it moving. Or they poke a toy and hear it make a sound

Ensuring babies lay occasionally on their tummy (so-called "tummy time") is important at this stage. It develops their muscle strength and brain & body connection. Remember that babies will always tell when they have had enough of exercise

This is a period of rapid change. Babies change from being mostly observers to active participants who experiment with movement.

They start to be able to hold their head steady without support and their vision is much sharper now. That enables them to explore their environment better when on their tummy

Babies start to roll from their back to their side and from their side to their tummy.

By the end of 6th month many babies will start crawling - at which point you will find it hard to keep them in the baby gym anymore
